The high-profile event, which brought widespread positive attention to local establishments, was officially hosted at Mercy Tree Manor. Organised in partnership with Caxton Local Media’s Witbank News, the initiative gave local residents the platform to vote for their favorite establishments, service providers, and community entities.

  • The ‘Living’ Category Favorite: Capturing the highest level of community interest, the ‘Living’ segment alone pulled in an impressive 29,516 votes.

  • Bragging Rights and National Exposure: Winning businesses walked away with well-deserved recognition, giving local enterprises a major boost in reputation. Furthermore, top winners from Witbank advanced to a broader national platform to showcase regional excellence.

Top Award-Winning Businesses & Standouts

  • Meat & Fish City: A major winner in the local business scene, capturing top honors for Best Butchery in the City of Coal for consecutive years under the leadership of team members like Rocky Moolman.

  • Saveways Superspar: Managed under business leaders like Dimitri Georgandonis (recognized previously as eMalahleni’s Businessman of the Year), Saveways Superspar consistently ranks at the top for community retail and recently clinched a third-place finish in the national Cleaver Awards alongside its local peers.

  • Certificate Collection & Logistics: Following the live broadcast and announcements, second and third-place runners-up and category winners were directed to collect their official recognition documents directly from the Witbank News offices located at 2 Lana Street.
  • Key Leadership Involved: The initiative was spearheaded by Caxton Local Media’s Witbank News team, featuring local news editor Zita Goldswain and advertising manager Leana de Bruyn, who oversaw the verification and tallying of the massive wave of over 130,000 public votes.
