Underground Fresh Water leak on Steve Bantu Biko for more than a year

André du Toit, who takes a morning walk down the street for exercise, noticed the underground leak started right after workers fixed a water main break quite a while back.

He explained that there used to be a water main break not too far from where the clean water line is located. Once they patched up that break, this new leak started. He’s been reporting the issue for over a year without any luck—nothing’s been fixed yet. The fresh water just keeps running to waste.

According to André, the leak stays hidden because the water’s flowing underground, so nobody really spots it until it’s been going on forever.

He mentioned he walks by that spot every single day for his morning jog and constantly hears water gushing out. Think about all the water that’s been wasted at this point; and it’s clean drinking water too, which is pretty hard to come by in Witbank.
