Ezné Venter allegedly stole more than R36 million
Ezné Venter, a 30-year-old woman, appeared in the eMalahleni Magistrate’s Court on charges of theft after allegedly stealing more than R36 million from her employer. The identity of the employer has not been publicly disclosed by the authorities or media outlets. The company name is expected to be detailed formally in the state’s charge sheet as the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation proceeds.
- The Allegations: Venter is accused of systematically stealing the money from her employer, where she had been working for 10 years, over a period starting from 2021.
- The Arrest: She turned herself over to the police.
- Bail Status: Magistrate Rametse Matlakala granted Venter bail set at R20,000, noting that she currently has no income.
- Bail Conditions: She was ordered to hand over her passport, is restricted from leaving the Nkangala District without permission, and must report to the Witbank Police Station three times a week (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays) between 07:00 and 17:00.
The state is being represented by Advocate Vusi Vuma, while Venter’s legal representative requested to remain anonymous and declined to comment on the matter at this stage.
