Former Eskom Buyer Convicted of R8.5m Fraud with Three Associates

Judicial and law enforcement accountability initiatives have scored a major victory following a high-profile commercial crime conviction within the municipal boundaries.

A former Eskom buyer alongside three associates has been formally convicted of fraud totaling R8.5 million in the eMalahleni region. According to statements released by the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (the Hawks), the elaborate corruption scheme involved manipulated procurement processes and illicit tender networks.

The Mpumalanga provincial head of the Hawks, Major General Nico Gerber, commended the investigative team for holding public sector employees and associates accountable when positions of trust are abused for personal gain.
