Ferrobank Fire Station Unveiled by Glencore Coal and Municipality

Emergency response infrastructure across the region has received a major boost following a collaborative public-private development project.

Glencore Coal, in direct partnership with the eMalahleni Local Municipality, officially handed over a brand-new, fully equipped fire station situated in the industrial area of Ferrobank, serving the broader Kwa-Guqa community. Valued at approximately R18.6 million, the initiative was launched to address urgent regional demands for rapid emergency deployment capabilities, effectively cutting down transit delays for household, industrial, and veld fire incidents.

The modern facility features a primary firehouse structure, a dedicated wash bay, a structural drill tower, backup generator housing, compressor and equipment storage rooms, alongside extensive parking options. Fully paved and secured with perimeter fencing, the installation integrates seamlessly into the municipality’s primary emergency network.
