Duvha Park Residents Frustrated by Continuous Sewage Discharge

Elevated temperatures and pervasive odor have prompted Duvha Park residents to seek urgent resolution, as requests for municipal action reportedly remain unaddressed.

A resident of Duvha Park 1 has expressed considerable dissatisfaction with an ongoing sewage concern affecting their community, asserting that despite submitting formal reports, appropriate remedial measures have not been implemented.

Judith Cornelius contacted Witbank News to articulate concerns regarding sewage allegedly emanating from a property situated on Geoffrey Jenkins Street. According to her account, this issue has persisted over an extended period and has subjected neighboring residents to a pronounced and objectionable odor.

She indicated that she documented photographic evidence of the sewage on October 10, and noted that another resident similarly reported the matter and recorded documentation. Notwithstanding these reports, she contends that municipal officials have failed to address the problem.

Cornelius noted that the odor becomes substantially more challenging to endure during elevated temperatures, thereby compromising the quality of daily life for affected residents.

She conveyed frustration that successive complaints have not produced demonstrable improvements, further asserting that she perceives the situation as being disregarded while residents bear the burden of consequences as the problem persists unresolved.

She additionally characterized the sewage discharge as presenting significant hygiene concerns and expressed apprehension that the matter has been permitted to continue for an extended duration without official intervention.

Requests for Official Response Remain Unaddressed

Witbank News endeavored to solicit commentary from Lebo Mofokeng, spokesperson for the eMalahleni Local Municipality. However, no response was provided.

  • Has ANYBODY ever managed to get hold of Lebo Mofokeng, Head of Communications/Spokesperson at eMalahleni local municipality? Everytime I read an article where someone reached out to him, no joy! Does he even still work there?
